Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Red bell peppers
Provide the main body and sweet, smoky flavor after roasting and peeling.
Walnuts
Add richness and body, giving the pâté its smooth, creamy texture when processed.
Olive oil
Adds fat for richness and helps carry flavor through the pâté.
Yellow onion
Adds savory depth as it softens and turns sweet with gentle cooking.

The step that matters

Roast the peppers until skin is fully blackened. Blistered, charred skin loosens so it can be peeled away cleanly, and the charring adds smoky flavor. Undercooked skin stays tough and clings to the flesh, leaving bitter or papery bits in the smooth pâté.

Swap the walnut

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (pepper, olive, onion, clove, garlic, parsley):
