Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Whole wheat flour
Forms the main structure of the dough and gives the biscuits their body.
Nonfat powdered milk
Adds dry milk solids that help brown the biscuits and firm up the crumb.
Egg
Binds the dough together and adds structure as it sets in the oven.
Bouillon granules
Dissolved in hot water to add savory flavor throughout the dough.

The step that matters

Cool to room temperature before adding remaining ingredients. Adding the egg to very hot liquid can scramble or partly cook it, which weakens binding and leaves an uneven dough. Letting the bouillon water cool first keeps the egg intact so it blends smoothly into the dough.
