What each ingredient does

Yellow or green beans
Provide the main vegetable body and texture of the soup.
Sausage
Adds savory fat and smoky meaty flavour to the broth.
Potatoes
Break down slightly to thicken the soup and add starchy body.
Table cream
Adds richness and a smooth, creamy body to the soup.
Flour
Thickens the soup by binding with fat and liquid.
Paprika
Contributes sweet, earthy colour and aroma when cooked in fat.

The step that matters

Cooking the flour and paprika in lard. Cooking flour in fat for several minutes removes its raw taste and lets it thicken smoothly. Paprika can scorch and turn bitter over high heat, so keep the heat at medium and stir constantly.
