Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Egg white
Binds the sugar and cinnamon coating to the cereal and nuts so it clings and crisps.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and helps the coating caramelize and brown in the oven.
Pecan halves
Adds fat and rich flavor, and toasts to a crunchy texture.
Whole blanched almonds
Adds crunch and toasty flavor as they bake.

The step that matters

Stirring during baking. Stirring every 15 minutes exposes the coated pieces evenly to heat, so they dry and crisp uniformly instead of scorching on the bottom or staying sticky in spots.
