Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set into a custard that binds the potatoes, ham and cheese together.
Potatoes
Form the base of the dish and give it a firm, hearty texture.
Cheddar, swiss or monterey jack cheese
Melts into the eggs and browns on top for richness and flavor.
Baked ham
Adds savory, salty flavor and chewy texture throughout the dish.
Milk
Dilutes the eggs slightly, keeping the custard tender and moist.

The step that matters

Bake until the eggs are just set. Eggs set between about 160 and 180°F. Overbaking squeezes out moisture and makes the frittata dry and rubbery, while underbaking leaves it runny in the center.
