Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set into a firm custard that holds the omelet together.
Cheddar cheese
Melts into the eggs to add richness and a stretchy, savory binding.
Potato
Adds starchy body and a soft, filling texture to the omelet.
Canadian bacon
Contributes savory, salty flavor and a slightly chewy bite.
Red bell pepper
Adds sweetness, crunch and moisture to the filling.
Sour cream
Adds cool tang and creaminess as a topping.

The step that matters

Cook over medium heat until almost set before the oven. Eggs set through gentle heat; if the bottom cooks too fast it scorches while the top stays runny. Stopping at almost set lets residual heat and the oven finish the center without making the eggs rubbery.

Swap the clove

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (egg, cheddar cheese, butter, potato, pepper, onion, garlic):

  1. Parsleyfits better
  2. Thymefits better
  3. Dillfits better
  4. Clovethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against egg, cheddar cheese, butter, potato, pepper, onion, garlic. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
