Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Rosehips
Provide the main flavour and the pulp that gives the soup its body.
Potato flour
Thickens the soup as its starch swells when heated.
Sugar
Adds sweetness that balances the tartness of the rosehips.
Almonds
Add a nutty flavour and a bit of texture to the soup.

The step that matters

Thickening with potato flour. Mix the potato flour with cold water first so it disperses without lumps. Stir while bringing the soup to a boil so the starch swells evenly and thickens the soup smoothly.

Swap the potato

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, flour, almond):

  1. Arrowrootfits better
  2. Beetrootfits better
  3. Sweet potatofits better
  4. Potatothe original
