Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Yellow peaches
Provide the main fruit flavour and body for the sherbet.
Sugar
Sweetens the sherbet and lowers its freezing point for a softer texture.
Cream
Adds richness and fat, giving a smoother, creamier texture.
Orange juice
Adds citrus acidity and bright flavour to the peach base.
Lemon
Adds acidity that sharpens the flavour and balances the sweetness.

The step that matters

Boil until a little thick. Boiling the sugar and water mixture thickens it slightly and dissolves the sugar fully. Stopping at the right point matters, because overcooking changes the sweetness and texture of the base once it is frozen.

Swap the peach

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (orange, sugar, cream, lemon):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Limefits better
  3. Raspberryfits better
  4. Peachthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against orange, sugar, cream, lemon. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
