Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Bread
Forms the body of the pudding and soaks up the eggs and fats.
Eggs
Bind the mixture and set as it cooks, giving it structure.
Suet (in the method)
Adds richness and fat, keeping the pudding moist as it boils.

The step that matters

Tying the cloth. The floured cloth must be tied snugly so the pudding keeps its shape while boiling. A loose cloth lets water in and the pudding can turn soggy.
