Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Beef or veal (in the method)
Forms the main body of the loaf and supplies most of its meaty flavor and structure.
Pork (in the method)
Adds fat that keeps the loaf moist and tender as it cooks.
Egg
Binds the meat mixture so the loaf holds its shape when sliced.
Cream
Adds moisture and softness to the mixture.
Cracker crumbs (in the method)
Absorb liquid and help bind the meat, and form a coating on the outside of the loaf.
