  4. Add sugar and Lemon Jello, stirring until dissolved.

  5. Add remaining ½ cup cold water and chill until syrupy.

Assemble and chill

  1. Line the bottom and sides of a 9-inch springform pan with ladyfingers and set aside.

  2. Prepare Dream Whip with milk and vanilla according to package directions.

  3. Fold in the syrupy Lemon Jello and Jello cubes.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Ladyfingers
Form a sponge-like edge that holds the set filling in the pan.
Dream whip
Whipped topping that adds airy, light texture to the filling.
Lemon jello
Gelatin that sets the syrupy mixture so it holds the cubes in place.
Jello cubes
Add color and a firm, jiggly texture throughout the dessert.

The step that matters

Chilling the syrupy Lemon Jello before folding. If the gelatin is too warm it will deflate the whipped Dream Whip, while if it is fully set it cannot blend evenly. Syrupy stage gives a smooth, airy, evenly distributed set.

Swap the lime

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (orange, cherry, pineapple, lemon, milk, vanilla, sugar):

Fit is the average pairing score against orange, cherry, pineapple, lemon, milk, vanilla, sugar. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
