Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a hot oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Roll out the puff paste to ¼ inch thick.

  2. Cut into strips 1 inch wide and 4 inches long.

  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes.

  4. Spread jam on one strip, cover with another strip, and top with meringue.

  5. Brown in the oven and serve as a dessert.

  6. Cut puff paste into 3-inch squares.

  7. Bring the corners to the center and moisten to hold in place.

  8. Bake for 20 minutes.

  9. Add a little jam or jelly in each corner and top with whipped cream.
