Bread and Butter Pudding

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Stew the tart apples until soft. If they are not sour enough, add a little citric acid. Sweeten to taste.

  2. Cut the light bread into thin slices and spread each slice with butter.

  3. In a pudding dish, cover the bottom with apple sauce.

  4. Layer the buttered bread on top of the apple sauce.

  5. Repeat the layers until the pudding reaches the desired thickness, finishing with apple sauce on top.

  6. Add nutmeg or other spices to each layer if desired.
