Ginger Bread

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large bowl, mix the eggs, molasses, brown sugar, sour milk, and butter until well combined.

  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until smooth.

  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.

  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
