Raised Brown Bread

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Get Graham flour fresh from the mill in small quantities to prevent molding.

  2. Make a sponge the night before using white flour.

  3. In the morning, divide the sponge and add 1 teaspoon salt and ⅓ cup sugar to the portion for brown bread.

  4. Add just enough Graham flour to form a dough.

  5. Shape into small loaves and place in well-buttered pie pans.

  6. Grease the top of the bread by placing it on the pan first, then turning it over.

  7. Tuck the sides under and keep in a warm place until light.

  8. Bake when risen.
