What each ingredient does

Veal
Provides the main body and protein structure that holds the loaf together when cooked.
Butter
Adds fat that keeps the loaf moist and tender as it cooks.
Grape nuts
Soaked cereal absorbs liquid and helps bind the meat so it stays moist.
Egg
Binds the mixture, setting as it heats to hold the loaf together.
