Ginger Apples

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Pare and core the apples.

  3. Fill the center of each apple with a spoonful of chopped preserved ginger.

  4. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and lemon, and add a piece of dried ginger. Cook until combined.

  5. Pour the syrup over the apples in a baking dish.

  6. Bake until the apples are soft and transparent, basting occasionally with the syrup.

  7. Serve hot or cold, topped with whipped cream and pieces of ginger.
