Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cauliflower
The main vegetable; boiling softens its dense florets until tender.
Milk or cream
Adds moisture and richness, giving the cooked florets a smooth, creamy texture.
Butter
Adds fat and flavour, rounding out the mild taste of the cauliflower.

The step that matters

Boil briskly for 20 minutes until tender. A vigorous boil cooks the dense florets evenly. Stopping early leaves the centres firm, while overcooking turns them mushy and watery.
