Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, beat the egg slightly and add it to the ground meat along with the minced onion, ground celery seed, black pepper, salt, and Tabasco sauce if using.

  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and shape the mixture into a ball.

  4. Place the meatball in a well-greased baking pan.

  5. Melt butter in warm water and use it for basting the loaf.

  6. Baste the loaf frequently and cook for about 40 minutes.

  7. Serve with gravy made from the liquid in the pan.
