Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Melt the dripping in the bottom of a pie dish.

  2. Cover the dripping with a layer of mashed potatoes.

  3. Add a layer of cold sliced meat over the potatoes.

  4. Repeat layering until the dish is full.

  5. Moisten the layers with gravy.

  6. Cover the top with more mashed potatoes.

  7. Brush the potatoes with the beaten yolk of egg.

  8. Bake for 30 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
