Oysters Baked with Dumplings

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Pour lemon juice, coarse sea salt, and black pepper over the oysters and set aside.

  3. Roll out the puff pastry very thin and cut into squares at least 4 inches wide.

  4. Brush each square with beaten egg.

  5. Place 2 or 3 oysters on each square and add a small piece of butter on top.

  6. Bring the corners of the pastry together and secure with toothpicks, leaving the center open.

  7. Bake until golden brown in a biscuit pan.

  8. Remove toothpicks before serving.
