Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Red raspberries
Provide the main fruit flavor, color, and liquid for the base.
Powdered sugar
Adds sweetness and dissolves into the fruit juice, softening the frozen texture.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the raspberry flavor and balances the sweetness.
Cream
Adds fat, which makes the frozen mixture smoother and creamier.

The step that matters

Let the raspberries stand with sugar. Sugar draws juice out of the mashed fruit and dissolves into it, so the mixture is sweet and evenly flavored before straining and freezing.
