Peach Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare the crust

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Make a rich pie crust.

  3. Roll the crust out to fit a pie tin.

  4. Bake the crust until golden brown.

  5. Grease the bottom layer of the crust slightly with butter.

Fill and bake

  1. Layer half of the sliced peaches in the pie tin.

  2. Sprinkle half of the sugar over the peaches.

  3. Add the remaining peaches.

  4. Top with the rest of the sugar.

  5. Cover with the top layer of crust.

  6. Seal the edges.

  7. Bake until the top is nicely browned.

  8. Serve warm with whipped cream.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Ripe peaches
Provide the main fruit filling, adding juicy flavor and soft texture when baked.
White sugar
Adds sweetness and helps draw out juices from the peaches to form the filling.
Pie crust
Forms the structure that holds the filling, and browns to a golden, crisp finish.

The step that matters

Baking the crust before filling. Partly or fully baking the bottom crust before adding the juicy peach filling helps it set and stay crisp instead of turning soggy.

Swap the peach
