  1. Cut a square of angel food cake and place it in a tall glass.

  2. Set a round slice of canned pineapple on top of the cake.

  3. In a saucepan, cook the juice from the pineapple can with a little sugar and lemon juice until it thickens.

  4. Add enough maraschino cherries to tint the syrup, or use red raspberry juice for color.

  5. Pour the syrup over the pineapple and cake.

  6. Top with a thick layer of whipped cream and finish with a maraschino cherry.

  7. Serve as a dessert when ice cream is typically served.
