Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs
What each ingredient does
- Gelatine
- Sets the liquid into a firm, sliceable jelly as it cools.
- Wine
- Provides the main flavour and some of the liquid that forms the jelly.
- Granulated sugar
- Sweetens the jelly and adds body to the set texture.
- Lemons
- Add acidity that brightens the sweet wine flavour.
The step that matters
Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Undissolved sugar grains stay gritty in the finished jelly and can make the set uneven, so the mixture should be smooth before it is poured and chilled.
Swap the lemon
