Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Egg yolks
Thicken the custard as they set, giving the pudding a rich, tender structure.
Milk
Forms the liquid base that the bread soaks up and the eggs set into custard.
White sugar
Adds sweetness to the custard.
Butter
Adds richness and helps the bread top brown lightly in the oven.
