Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Pork sausage meat
Forms the main body of the sausage and supplies fat and meaty flavour.
Tomato pulp
Adds moisture, acidity and tomato flavour to the meat.

The step that matters

Boil the tomato pulp for about 10 minutes. Boiling reduces the water in the pulp, concentrating its flavour and keeping the cooled mixture from making the sausage meat too wet and loose.

Swap the tomato

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (pork, meat, pepper, sugar):

  1. Capsicumfits better
  2. Potatofits better
  3. Mustardfits better
  4. Tomatothe original

Fit is the average pairing score against pork, meat, pepper, sugar. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
