Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a very slow oven”. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Wash the wheat well and place it in a jar.

  2. Cover the wheat with cold water and soak for 12 hours.

  3. Add a little coarse sea salt.

  4. Bake in a slow oven at 300°F (150°C) until tender, about 4 to 6 hours.

  5. Spoon the wheat into saucers and create a hollow in the middle.

  6. Fill the hollow with stewed, sweetened fruit.

  7. Top with a spoonful of cream and serve.
