Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Egg yolks
Thicken the custard and add richness as they set during gentle cooking.
Rich milk
Forms the creamy base of the custard and carries the sweetness and flavor.
Whipped cream
Adds air and fat, giving the frozen dessert a light, smooth texture.
Sugar
Sweetens the custard and lowers the freezing point, keeping it softer when frozen.
Fresh peaches or berries
Provide fruit flavor, aroma and moisture to the finished dessert.

The step that matters

Cook the custard over low heat. Egg yolks thicken at gentle heat; if the mixture gets too hot it can curdle or scramble, leaving a grainy texture. Stirring keeps the heat even.

Swap the peach

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (milk, cream, egg, sugar):

  1. Vanillafits better
