What each ingredient does
- Vegetable marrows
- Form the main shell that holds the filling and softens as it bakes.
- Cold meat or poultry
- Provides the main savoury body of the filling.
- Flour
- Thickens the filling so it holds together rather than running out.
- Mushrooms
- Add moisture and savoury depth to the filling.
- Stock or gravy
- Moistens the filling and carries flavour through the bake.
