Blackberry Cake

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until well combined.

  3. Add the butter and mix until smooth.

  4. Stir in the flour, blackberry jam, sour cream, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon, and grated nutmeg.

  5. Mix well until the batter is smooth.

  6. Pour the batter into prepared cake pans and bake until a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Once baked, layer the cakes and add icing between them.
