Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare the patties

  1. Line patty pans with pie crust.

  2. Stew the apples and sweeten to taste.

  3. Fill the lined pans with the apple mixture and sprinkle cinnamon on top.

  4. Bake for 20 minutes at 400°F (200°C).

Make the sauce and serve

  1. For the sauce, combine 1 cup sugar, butter, and 1 cup boiling water in a saucepan.

  2. Boil the sauce for 5 minutes.

  3. Serve the hot patties with 2 tablespoons of sauce over each.

Apples
Provide the main filling, softening into a moist, sweet mixture when stewed.
Sugar
Sweetens the apples and, dissolved in water, forms the sauce.
Butter
