The Rump Roast

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Rub the rump roast well with coarse black pepper and flour.

  2. In a roasting pan, brown the flour, then pour in 2 cups of water.

  3. Baste the roast often while cooking.

  4. Listen for a soft stewing sound; if it sizzles and snaps, add more water to prevent burning.

  5. If using the whole rump, carve it lengthwise.

  6. For added flavor, roast one or two onions with the beef.

  7. Add salt during the last basting.
