Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, mix together the butter, sugar, chopped almonds, citron, flour, cloves, cinnamon, lemon juice, and lemon rind.

  3. Add the eggs and mix until well combined.

  4. Spread the mixture into pie plates or tins using your hands.

  5. Fill the center with strawberry preserves.

  6. Cut strips from the remaining dough and place them across the top.

  7. Brush the top with the reserved egg yolk.
