Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a hot oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Butter a round fluted baking tin.

  3. Line the bottom of the tin with the short crust, pressing it into the edges.

  4. Cut the rennet apples into equal-sized pieces and arrange them on the crust, overlapping slightly.

  5. Sprinkle the apples with powdered sugar and a little powdered cinnamon.

  6. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.

  7. Before serving, sprinkle again with sugar.
