Mock Chip Beef
Ingredients
Directions
Slice the nutmeato thinly and let it stand overnight in an open dish covered with cheesecloth to keep off dust.
In the morning, broil the nutmeato on toasters or a toasting fork.
Place the broiled nutmeato in a dish of hot water and gently simmer for 30 minutes.
Drain off the water and transfer the nutmeato to a hot platter.
Return the water to the stove and thicken it with a little white flour mixed with cold water.
Add coarse sea salt to taste and pour the sauce over the nutmeato.
Serve as chip beef or on toast.
