Election Cake, No. 1

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Beat the butter and brown sugar together until creamy.

  2. Mix half of the flour with the creamed mixture at 2 PM, adding enough warm new milk to make a batter thinner than biscuit dough.

  3. Stir in the yeast and a little salt, then let it rise.

  4. When the batter is light, add the remaining ingredients, including the rest of the butter and sugar.

  5. Let the mixture rise again, then pour it into pans to make 10 medium-sized loaves.

  6. Allow the loaves to rise for 1 hour before baking.
