Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Tapioca
Swells in the milk and thickens the pudding as it cooks and sets.
Eggs
Set during baking to give the pudding a custard-like body.
Milk
Softens the tapioca and forms the liquid base of the pudding.
Cream
Adds richness and fat, giving a smoother, silkier texture.
Sugar
Sweetens the pudding and contributes to its browning in the oven.

The step that matters

Bake carefully until a cream‑like consistency is achieved.. Egg proteins set with heat and can curdle or turn grainy if overbaked. Pulling the pudding out while it still has a slight wobble keeps it smooth, as it firms further while cooling.
