Bread Omelet

Ingredients

Directions

Prepare the batter

  1. Beat the eggs separately.

  2. Add the milk, salt, pepper, and bread crumbs to the yolks.

  3. Gently fold in the beaten egg whites.

Cook

  1. Heat the butter in a smooth frying pan until hot.

  2. Pour the mixture into the pan and cook over medium heat, shaking occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. Transfer the frying pan to the oven for a moment to set the middle of the omelet.

Serve

  1. When done, toss the omelet onto a warm platter with the brown side up, or fold it in half and place it in the center of the platter.

  2. Serve immediately to prevent it from falling.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Whites trap air for lift, while yolks add richness and help the omelet set.
Bread crumbs
Absorb the milk and egg, adding body and a softer, more tender texture.
Milk
Adds moisture, keeping the omelet tender rather than dry as the eggs set.
Butter
Fat for the pan that adds flavor and helps the omelet brown and release.

The step that matters

Fold in the egg whites gently. Beaten whites hold air bubbles that give the omelet its lift. Stirring or beating them into the yolks deflates the foam, leaving a dense, flat result.
