Layer and bake

  1. Layer grated bread crumbs in the dish.

  2. Add bits of butter on top of the crumbs.

What each ingredient does

Cooking apples
Provide the fruit body and tartness that flavour the pudding.
Grated bread crumbs
Soak up juices and give the layers a soft, absorbent body.
Butter
Adds richness and helps the crumbs brown as they bake.
Sugar
Sweetens the apples and balances their natural tartness.
