Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Corn starch
Thickens the milk mixture as it heats, giving the pudding its body.
Eggs
Add richness and help set the pudding as they cook with the milk.
Chocolate
Provides the main chocolate flavor and color of the pudding.
Milk
Forms the liquid base that the starch and eggs thicken.

The step that matters

Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.. Starch must be heated to gelatinize and thicken the milk, while constant stirring prevents scorching on the bottom of the pot and keeps the eggs from curdling in lumps.
