Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Gelatin
Sets the liquid into a firm, sliceable jelly as it cools.
Pineapple
Provides the main flavour and fruit pieces suspended in the jelly.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the sweetness and flavour of the pineapple.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water. Gelatin must fully dissolve in hot liquid before setting, or it forms lumps and the jelly will not set evenly. Stirring until no granules remain ensures a uniform, firm texture as it cools.
