Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cream
Provides fat and richness, giving the ice cream a smooth, creamy texture.
Sugar
Sweetens the base and lowers the freezing point, keeping the ice cream softer and scoopable.
Pineapples
Supply the main fruit flavor and acidity, along with moisture that adds body to the mixture.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the pineapple flavor and balances the sweetness.
Orange juice
Adds extra fruit acidity and aroma that complements the pineapple.

The step that matters

Stir in the pineapple mixture when the cream is half frozen. If the cream is fully frozen or still liquid, the fruit will not blend evenly. Partly frozen cream holds the pineapple in fine suspension, giving a smooth texture rather than icy or separated pieces.

Swap the pineapple

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream, sugar, lemon, orange):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Limefits better
  3. Raspberryfits better
  4. Pineapplethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against cream, sugar, lemon, orange. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
