Frosting for Cake

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Beat the egg whites until frothy.

  2. Sift the sugar through a fine sieve, adding it gradually while beating until stiff.

  3. Add lemon juice to taste and beat until light.

  4. If the frosting is too thick, add the white of another egg to achieve a smooth consistency.

  5. Frost the fruit cake as soon as it comes out of the oven, then add another layer when cool and mark for cutting.
