Baked Meat Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a buttered dish, layer the chopped cold meat and sliced or stewed tomatoes alternately.

  3. Season with coarse sea salt, black pepper, lumps of butter, and the chopped onion.

  4. Sprinkle a handful of flour over the layers.

  5. Cover with a rich pie crust and bake for one hour.
