Baked Berry Rolls

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Roll out the rich biscuit dough thinly.

  2. Cut it into squares, each 4 inches wide and 7 inches long.

  3. Spread berries over each square.

  4. Roll up the dough and place the rolls in a dripping pan, leaving space between them.

  5. Place a piece of butter on each roll and add spices if desired.

  6. Sprinkle a large handful of sugar over the rolls and add a little hot water.

  7. Bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven until golden, similar to dumplings.

  8. Serve with sweet sauce.
