Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Cut the cooked meat into small pieces and place it in a deep baking dish.

  3. Add small pieces of vegetables if desired and pour gravy over the meat.

  4. Cover the dish with a layer of dough, or use a potato crust by placing the meat directly in the dish without lining it.

  5. If using raw meat and vegetables, cover the dish with a plate and cook until nearly done.

  6. Remove the plate, add the crust, and return to the oven until the crust is lightly browned.
