Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Strawberries
Provide the main flavor and color, and their juice gives the cream its body.
Gelatin
Sets the liquid mixture into a firm, sliceable cream as it cools.
Whipped cream
Adds lightness and richness, making the set cream softer and creamier.
Sugar
Sweetens the strawberry juice and balances its natural tartness.

The step that matters

Melt the gelatin gently over boiling water. Gelatin must be fully dissolved but not overheated; if it boils or is cooled too far before the cream is added, it may set unevenly or fail to set properly.

Swap the pineapple

The recipe marks pineapple as optional. How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream, sugar, peach):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Raspberryfits better
  3. Strawberryfits better
  4. Pineapplethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against cream, sugar, peach. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
