Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Peel the cucumbers and cut a slice off one side.

  2. Scoop out the seeds and parboil in salted water until half done.

  3. Season the Hamburg steak with coarse sea salt, black pepper, and grated onion.

  4. Fill the cucumbers with the seasoned Hamburg steak.

  5. Replace the tops on each cucumber and tie with string.

  6. Place several dots of butter on each cucumber.

  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
