Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Pour boiling water over molasses and raisins.

  2. Mix in chopped pork and baking soda.

  3. Add sugar and spices to taste.

  4. Stir in flour until the mixture is quite stiff.

  5. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and white sugar.

  6. Add the beaten eggs gradually, mixing well.

  7. Combine all mixtures and add rose water.

  8. Bake slowly at 300°F (150°C) until done.
